Transformation and turnaround a lost making EMEA region (€150M+) for a market leader of air filtration solutions

Problem Statement

How to change an air filtration product business into a profitable solution business and in parallel build a new sales force and rationalize and optimize five (5) manufacturing plants

Context

One of the global leaders in air conditioning acquired a global filtration business. The USA and Asia region performed according plan however the EMEA region struggled with competitive & market pressure. Severe manufacturing challenges led into non-competitive lead times and quality issues. In addition, leadership issues across the region weakened the international sales force. The owners in Japan and the CEO of the filtration business requested a short-term improvement plan and strategic growth plan for EMEA.

Results

The implemented changes delivered, within a year, profitable EBIT and revenue growth of 9%. The manufacturing excellence program resulted into a lead time reduction of 11% and quality issues improved with 32%. A new build commercial team (sales, product management and marketing), debottlenecked manufacturing and motivated EMEA organisation (300+) became the foundation for delivering a 3-5 year strategic grow plan.
